Holy Eucharist

First Holy Communion is a Christian ceremony where a person receives the Eucharist for the first time. It's a significant event in the Catholic Church, and is celebrated as a sign of faith and devotion. 

The ceremony celebrates the child's first acceptance of the bread and wine, which Catholics believe are the body and blood of Christ. 

First Holy Communion is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, and is the second of the three Sacraments of Initiation. It's also the most important and most repeated Sacrament of Catholic life.

The Children of St. Martin de Porres Parish generally receive their First Holy Communion in 2nd grade.  Children and their parents attend classes at the St. Martin's, and should regularly attend Mass. The children also receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation a few months before their First Holy Communion.
